This attractive old desk accessory was manufactured by the noted Jennings Brothers metalwork foundry; established 1891 and well known for producing some of the finest metal art of the 19th and 20th century.

This particular desk box features the fine craftsmanship and attention to detail that the company is famous for. It is very heavy, substantial and well made and actually looks and feels very much like bronze.

The design is traditional, with Art Nouveau elements, however the Art Deco influence is also apparent, so we estimate the box dates to apx. c. 1910; possibly a little earlier or later.

The box is hinged and opens to reveal the original cobalt blue glass liner.

The finish on this nice old desk accessory is exceptionally nice.  Rather than the commonly found bronze, silver or gold tones, the box features one of the more uncommon, harder to find colors; a very pretty green with gold highlights.

The box is in extremely nice antique/vintage estate condition, with no noted issues.  Hinge operates well and lid closes easily, aligning appropriately.  Some expected minor exterior finish wear/marks, but overall quite nice, retaining good original color patination.  Cobalt blue liner shows no chips, cracks, breaks or other damage.

A very nice early desk accessory, possibly for stamps or other utilitarian type uses.  This box would make a great gift.
