Strong Art Deco graphics and bold colors combine to create an aesthetically attractive and pleasing original old unused  1937 advertising calendar, featuring a charming period Charlotte Becker print, as well as a Christmas Season’s Greetings message, with holiday illustrations.

Advertising on the calendar is from  Geo. E. Allen, a hardware and plumbing retailer, located in Salem, Oregon.  Next to calendar is a small diamond shaped logo reading: Shapleigh’s Hardware, Tools & Cutlery.  This diamond edge trademark was adopted in 1864 and the slogan; Diamond Edge is a Quality Pledge became widely recognized in the hardware industry.  Shapleigh operated from 1843 - 1955 and likely sold product to Allen Hardware.

Due to the Season's Greetings message I believe the calendar was actually issued in 1936 and likely distributed by the retailer during the Christmas holidays, prior to the New Year, 1937.

The charming print depicts a rosy faced child in a crib playing with several toys, including a clown, dog, rattle and horse.  Colors are very strong and vibrant; mostly primary shades of blue, red, yellow green, purple and brown.

Decorative cover over the calendar depicts a classic Christmas theme in similar bright colors.
Body of heavy paper stock calendar is printed with strong Art Deco graphics in rich blue and gold.

Beneath the Becker print is a Convenient Telephone Number list, which includes an alphabetical index for your frequently needed numbers, such as; Beer, Chiropodist, Dry Goods, Farm, Husband, Ice Cream, Liquor, Milliner, Telegraph and Undertaker, to name just a few.  
This original old calendar is in good condition.  I do not believe it was ever used, displayed or hung.   Decorative cover over calendar months had never been lifted until I carefully raised to photo.  All months are present and unmarked.  Phone number list was never populated and remains unused.
Metallic gold border does appear to have tarnished slightly and two corners have been bent; upper right and lower left.  Most significant is lower left, which has impacted top thin layer of paper graphics to a small degree.  Right corner, although more minor, is longer in length and also lightly affects a very small, apx. 3 mm  edge of print.
