A very large, heavy entree or buffet serving spoon, manufactured by S. Kirk & Son Co in the Repousse pattern; a dense multi-motif floral design on stippled ground.
According to our resource information this mark was used from apx. 1896 - 1914, so this is definitely a quality, older production antique serving piece.
This large spoon features an ovoid shape bowl, also called tulip or egg shaped.
It is made from very thick, heavy sterling stock and is quite substantial; weighing a considerable 3.48 troy ounces.
This serving spoon is lightly monogrammed on upper handle reverse in a very pretty, elaborate period script that we believe reads; MKH
It is in exceptionally nice estate condition, with no dings, dents or repairs, just light surface scratches commensurate with age, storage and careful use. The multi - motif floral repousse pattern design remains amazingly defined.
