An excellent antique Reed and Barton bowl in the desirable multi motif floral Les
Cinq Fleurs pattern, this example being Cineraria.In the Victorian era Language of
Flowers the meaning of Cineraria was; always happy and delightful.The nut bowl is
hallmarked with the traditional period R & B information, however this particular
example pre-dates the copyright for the pattern which was 1903, as it reads: PAT.
APPL'D, meaning that the patent had been applied for, but not yet granted or formalized,
clearly identifying this bowl as a nice early production piece.This type of small
serving bowl was commonly used for nuts, candy, bin bons and mints, etc.The bowl
is in exceptionally fine antique estate condition, with no noted dings, dents, bends,
cracks, breaks, or any other damage.Les Cinq Fleurs is a very collectible antique,
multi-motif floral pattern that incorporated a number of beautiful flower designs.
This bowl is an excellent condition, stellar period example of that Art Nouveau
aesthetic, produced by a company noted for exemplary, unique designs.
