Osterberg, Richard ~ Yesterday’s Silver For Today’s Table, 2001
This is a great
full color book, helpful in determining what place pieces were made in various patterns,
as well as identifying unusual pieces.
Carpenter, Charles H. Jr. ~ Gorham Silver, Revised Edition, 1997
A complete identification of patterns, hallmarks, date marks and more.
Pristo, L.J., ~ Martele Gorham’s Art Nouveau Silver, 2002
This is a wonderful, extremely informative and detailed resource for Martele’, as
well as specials and samples.
Pickford, Ian ~ Jackson’s Silver & Gold Marks of England, Scotland & Ireland, Revised
Edition, 2005
A comprehensive 768 page reference guide showing detailed hallmark information.
Tardy ~ International Hallmarks on Silver, 2005
This is an extensive and very helpful
world hallmark collection.
Crosby Forbes, H.A. ~ Chinese Export Silver 1785 to 1885, 1975
A very hard to find, but excellent and exhaustive study of trade silver, with pictorial
hallmark information.

A beautiful, full color historical reference, with hundreds of photographs.
Ball, Joanne & Torem, Dorothy ~ Commercial Fragrance Bottles, 1999
This is an extensive pictorial guide, including factice bottles, with designer and
manufacturer information.
Periodicals
Silver Magazine is a bimonthly publication featuring antique Colonial American silver,
through the 20th century, as well as English and Continental. We have subscribed
to this magazine for a number of years and just love it, regularly referring to featured
articles, auction results or other information such as flatware pattern profiles,
where all pieces issued in a particular pattern are outlined. If you love silver

This book supplies excellent, informative reviews on individual designers, with multiple
large color examples and hallmarks.
