Wonderful NOS antique passementerie gold metallic covered bobble beads embellishment, dating to the American Victorian era and corresponding French Napoleon III  - La Belle Epoque period.
Occasionally we find a few of these old metallic beads, however in our previous finds the  beads were simply wrapped vertically in metallic threads, with no intricate weaving or braiding detail, like on this nice group.
Each of these ball barrel beads / bobbles / buttons features a wooded center that is covered with very fine gold metallic metal wire, in an interesting woven, or braided pattern.  They were individually hand made, so while very similar in shape and size, every bead is unique.
They do not appear to have ever been used and remain in exceptionally nice antique estate condition, with no problems or issues of any kind, aside from an occasional errant thread.
Metallic's do not photograph well for us, so unfortunately the beads do not appear as nice in the images as they really are.  They probably have acquired a somewhat darker gold patina than when originally made, but they are not as dark as the images suggest, and all of the beads have consistent, even and very similar rich gold color, with great luster and sparkle.  Best depicted in the first two or three beads shown in the forefront (lower portion) of the first image.
As a side note;  I once saw the most divine and incredibly large antique French  Napoleon III era tassel that featured similar metallic wire wrapped beads incorporated into the design.  It was definitely one of the most amazing tassels I have ever seen in my life, and demonstrated one way these beads were used during the period.
Overall a rather rare find of unused antique passementerie bobble beads that could be used in a myriad of ways, including fashioned into buttons or closures for clothing, or handbags, as well as embellishment for millinery, boudoir vanity items, French Fashion & Bebe doll dressing, tassels, pillows, drapes, soft furnishings, interior design, restorations and other projects requiring authentic period trims.
