Beautiful antique lace in a wonderful rich gold color, with a subtle rose or copper hue, dating to the later 19th or earlier 20th century; Victorian - Edwardian eras.
This is a very fine, light, diaphanous lace, with a floral and foliage pattern that incorporates matte and glossy areas created by the rich sheen of the silk, resulting in an almost metallic like appearance, yet unlike many metallic laces that are often rather stiff, this lace is extremely soft and fluid.
As you can see in the close up images some of the floral motifs are highlighted with outline threads, which add further dimension and texture to the attractive design.
A burn test resulted in multiple indications of silk, including black, crispy ash, however I am not sure if the outline threads mentioned above are a different natural fiber, possibly silk wrapped around ?
The lace is in two similar lengths and each had identical original tags/labels attached to the top entredeux edge via metal stapes, but they were coming loose and the staples were a concern, so I removed them.  I will send the labels along with the lace, but wrapped separately.
The lace remains in very nice, unused antique estate condition.  It is clean and free of any spots, stains, marks, etc.   After many years of being attached, the weight of the tags caused a minor, small separation to the top entredeux edge of each length of lace. A couple of stitches will remedy one, as only the narrow top edging is affected.  On the other, a few brides below the entredeux edge are effected as well, but this is a very tiny area.
Please see the last image above.  I have placed a US ten cent piece directly between the two separations on each top edge, so you can see how very small/minor this is.
Also, on the left side of same image please see my white pen directing attention to the only other area (also near top edge, close to one end) with a few bride separations.
Overall this antique lace is in very good, strong, stable condition.  It is quite airy, light and diaphanous, very soft and fluid, with beautiful drape and could be easily gathered/pleated if desired.  Perfect for period clothing, textiles, millinery, designers, French Fashion and Bebe dolls, etc.
The beautiful color was difficult to capture, but on my monitor is best depicted in the close up images above; a rich gold, with a rosy or slightly coppery hue.

NOTE:  John Siegmund Schramm was born in Germany c. 1818.  He immigrated to the US in 1837, settling in Burlington, Iowa in 1841, where he founded a general / dry-goods store that became known as the J S Schramm Department Store, a well known and highly respected institution that operated for more than 150 years.
