A very feminine vintage boudoir pillow slip, case or sham, decorated with hand embroidery
and appliqué bows, ribbons and flowers, c. 1910 - 20.
The pillow is white, with embroidered scallop edge. Ribbons and bows accent each
corner, as well as a large scalloped center medallion. Applique bows are blue, with
ribbons a slightly lighter shade. Applique flowers are white and pink. Satin stitch
embroidery accents the applique, in shades of white, pink, and green. The pillow
is pure white, but for some reason our pictures came out a little dark.
Pillow form, available at fabric and craft stores, can be inserted via flap on back.
The pillow slip is in very nice overall condition, with no stains, tears, holes,
etc. The ribbons are a lighter shade of blue than bows, but there is likely a little
even, overall lightening of applique work from age, washing, etc. There is also
a small amount of fraying to embroidery around scallop edge. It is freshly laundered,
crisp and clean.
A very charming and utterly feminine vintage pillow slip.
