This divine antique / vintage handmade American Renaissance Battenburg and Italian Point de Venice needlelace textile dates to apx. 1900 - 40.
At almost 9 feet in length, it is very long and likely graced a grand table, banquet buffet, piano or similar fine large treasured piece of antique furniture.
The lacemaker incorporated elaborate Renaissance Battenburg, in a flowing, stylized floral pattern, very much in the aesthetic manner of antique baroque Vieux Flandre ( Flandres Flanders ) bobbin - needle lace, with five lovely traditional Italian Point de Venice urn and flower motif linen medallions.  Finished all around with picot edged scallops.
The complex, fancy, ornate and well executed design displays excellent workmanship throughout, with intense needle work and a nice variety of filling stitches.
This centerpiece runner is in very nice antique estate condition.  It is very clean and white with no stains, spots, specks or similar issues.  There are several of the expected small openings in the lace; a few tapes need several stitches to secure, a few loose brides and some very small openings in the mesh ground.  Nothing large, exceptionally notable, or not easily repairable if perfection is required.
Really an exceptionally well made, very extensively and densely hand worked antique textile, obviously created by a very talented lace maker.  Large size lace table linens, such as this center piece, are quite rare and unusual to find.
An outstanding antique lace example that would certainly made an important contribution to a discerning lace or textile collection.  It could easily be used today as originally intended, to high light an important table, piano, etc., or as a valance, bedding accent or other creative purpose.
