This elegant antique linen and lace handkerchief is in exceptionally fine condition, appearing to be unused; a rare find for a textile dating to the later 19th / turn of the 20th century.

The sheer center linen is decorated with delicate drawnwork and surrounded with very fancy handmade American Renaissance Needlelace that measures a lush 4 inches deep at each corner.

Only the most elaborate and finely executed Battenburg can be classified as true Renaissance lace and this divine hanky meets all of the requirements.

As stated, the handkerchief appears to have never been used, or laundered.  It was obviously treasured and well cared for as it remains very clean and free from any rips, tears, snags, breaks, etc.  I find one very light, faint surface soil to one tiny section of tape lace, right at the tip, or outer edge, otherwise absolutely no stains, marks, stress, weakness or any other issues with either lace or linen.  The first and third images show color the best, a true white, while the second image appears somewhat off white due to low camera light.

Truly a fine example of an antique handmade needle lace hankie.  Historically very elaborate handkerchiefs such as this were often used for special occasions such as weddings, or other similar important events.
