This vintage half doll, c.1920's -30's, has a brush base that is covered with a
pale green satin ribbon skirt. The old hand sewn ribbon skirt, which appears to
be made from two gathered wide satin panels, is accented at waist front with a very
pretty lavender, pink and green ribbon and silk floss flower rosette, centered in
a long fancy looped yellow ribbon.
A pink sash ties around her waist and forms a large loop at the back, which I assume
is for a handle or to hang.
The half doll has one elbow away, with a hand on her hair and the other hand on the
front of her gown.
Her face is nicely painted, with a lovely blush to her cheeks.
She has a dark pink band in her hair and pink accents to her bodice front, which
is almost hidden by the yellow ribbon work at her waist.
The doll remains firmly attached to the brush via the original binding, making it
impossible to check for number/ letters, etc. without totally taking her apart and
so were unable to determine origin. Our research does show that this particular
doll was made in Germany, as well as Japan, with just a slight variation in the decorative
painting.
This half-doll is in exceptionally nice condition, free of cracks, breaks, and chips.
Additionally, her brush appears to be unused and her clothing is perfectly clean.
Condition suggests that she was likely stored away in a clean dry place for many,
many years.
A very attractive half doll brush that is somewhat out of the ordinary due to her
very pretty ribbon work clothing and outstanding condition.
