Divine!  Oh, I can't help it....pink guilloche enamel makes my heart go pitter-patter!  Add all the rose garlands and bows, plus Cupid's arrow and I am truly lost.

This lovely vanity set, which includes a very large mirror and two different brushes, was manufactured in the 1920's Flapper era by the respected Foster and Bailey Company.

The sterling silver features very intricate period detailing and the wonderful guilloche is also extremely fine.

Each large center vignette features white guilloche decorated with hand painted red and pink Roses, Blue Forget-Me-Nots and green foliage garlands, accented with a blue bow, ribbons, and Cupids golden arrow and bow.  Excellent pink enamel surrounds the center medallions.

This is a very well made, early set.  All three pieces are quite large, heavy and substantial.  At fourteen inches in length this is certainly one of the larger mirrors I have seen.

We are please to report that all three pieces of this dresser set are in exceptionally nice vintage estate condition; the set was obviously cherished and well cared for, for almost 85 years.  We find no chips, cracks, breaks, dings, dents or any other issues with either the sterling or the enamel. There are the expected minor surface scratches, however these are minimal and really require serious magnification to detect. Both long handles remain perfectly straight, with no kinks or bends.  The  brush bristles appear to be original and are intact.  Mirror also appears to be original and other than some small, light age related fog speckles it is good and free of breaks, cracks, chips, etc.  Not spotless, but quite nice and perfectly usable.

As a lover of guilloche enamel I have encountered many beautiful patterns over the years, but this is the first time I have found this particular design with the golden Cupid’s bow and arrow, taken of course from the mythological legend of Cupid and Psyche and signifying love, desire and beauty.   Add to this the significance of the particular flowers shown in the motif;  in the Victorian Language of Flowers pink and red Roses symbolize happiness, joy, beauty, love and respect.  Forget Me Not's symbolize true love and memories. Certainly a very romantic and charming design and likely a harder to find and rather unusual motif.
Truly a special, exceptionally nice vintage boudoir accessory that would make an excellent gift and/or addition to a discriminating collection.
