A pair of ladies Edwardian (possibly a little earlier or later) vintage brown leather
high top boots, c. 1905 - 1915.
They tie and appear to have original shoe laces. Lining is a white cotton/linen
like fabric. They have a nice stacked leather Cuban heel.
Labels inside read; Laird Scholer and Co, Philadelphia ~ Rosenthal's Portland
Size
4 & 1/2 is marked inside the boots. Using the inside measurement (above) I would
have estimated apx. size 5, but they are very narrow, with a narrow toe.
Please keep
in mind that although the size does appear to be approximately as indicated, we are
not exactly sure how marked size information compares to our modern sizes, so please
review measurements above for additional details.
The boots are in good overall condition. I see no problems. Interior lining is
not spotless, but quite clean, nice and free of tears, etc. The leather remains quite
supple, but could probably use some leather conditioner. Soles and heel guards remain
quite thick, with acceptable, not excessive wear for early vintage shoes.
These boots are certainly in wearable condition, however due to the small narrow
size they would probably be best for display.
Finding good condition vintage shoes, in sizes wearable today, is rather difficult,
so we were very pleased to purchase a small collection of size 6, 7, 8 and 9 Victorian,
Edwardian and 1920's foot wear, listed separately, here on our website.
